"In ALL things, God works for the good of those who love him."
Quick story: this past weekend I (Aaron) was invited to speak at two churches in rural Courtland, MN and share a ministry update. Following one of the services two of the members shared the news of a devastating fire that destroyed their home. Thankfully no one was hurt.
The other church members asked if there was anything they could do to help. The couple reported that insurance was taking good care of them, and they had no financial needs at this time (this after losing their home and nearly all their possessions just TWO DAYS EARLIER).
Instead, they requested that any donations be put towards ministry. The chairman suggested redirecting gifts to Friends Network to support our new mission fields. Everyone agreed, and that was that.
I was dumbfounded. In a matter of three minutes I had learned of this terrible loss, witnessed the care and compassion of fellow brothers and sisters, prayed a silent prayer on their behalf, and somehow our ministry was receiving gifts as a result. What a powerful testament to God's goodness, and to the faithfulness and generosity of these brothers and sisters.
God truly does work through all things for our good and for his glory and honor.
