1. What excites you about working with Friends Network?
I love working with Friends Network! I get to share the Gospel with people on such a personal level- many who have not heard much about Jesus before. It also allows me to work with kids and build relationships with their families which I love! All the while being supported by an amazing team all around the world!
One of my elementary English classes! A church member donated small pumpkins that we painted!
2. In what ways have you grown by serving as an evangelist?
I have grown so much as an evangelist and am so excited to see how God continues to help me grow. I am growing more comfortable with being uncomfortable. I get to ask so many questions whether it’s about culture, language, food, or just day to day life. And the Japanese people enjoy sharing their knowledge or time to help out. Asking for help has been a great way to build relationships!
Udon is one of my favorite Japanese foods so far! I’ve been enjoying trying all sorts of different foods ranging from squid guts and fish egg flavored chips to sandwiches filled with whipped cream and strawberries.
3. Favorite new word or phrase you’ve learned:
だいじょうぶ。(Daijoubu). It means “it’s okay”, and I use it everyday. Whether it’s saying “No” politely to a cashier asking if I want a plastic bag or asking if a student is okay after falling off their chair (it happens more than you’d expect!), it’s a jack of all trades!
4. What can we pray for?
Please pray for my English students and their families that the Holy Spirit opens their hearts and minds
We love the view of Mito from our tenth floor apartment.
